Sonia López, health psychologist specializing in EMDR therapy online

A safe space to understand what is happening to you

No. of members M-25306

My name is Sonia López Cano, a health psychologist and EMDR therapist. I support adults who want to heal emotional wounds, overcome difficult experiences, and reconnect with their well-being.

My training in Psychology and Behavioural Therapy is complemented by accreditation as an EMDR clinic and specific training in trauma, attachment and dissociation. Before dedicating myself to psychotherapy, I worked in social organizations in Ireland and in Human Resources: two fields that taught me to approach each story with respect and to accompany processes of change.

My approach is integrative and adapts to your needs and your pace. I believe in your ability to heal, and I am here to support you.

My professional career

My approach combines social support, Human Resources and psychotherapy. Working with people in very different contexts is part of who I am as a therapist.

Social support in Ireland

In 2005 I participated in the European Voluntary Service with Depaul Ireland in Dublin, providing direct care to young people with drug addictions and participating in socio-educational activities. In 2006 I was a team leader in a Leargas exchange program, with self-esteem and empowerment activities for young women.

People and professional development

My time in Human Resources allowed me to understand how emotional well-being affects personal and professional life. In 2016, I participated as a trainer in an Ineco corporate volunteering program with the Prodis and Grupo Norte foundations, focused on developing skills and preparing for interviews.

How I work with you

First, understand what you need

In the first session we assess what is happening to you and whether my approach suits you. You don't need to have done therapy before.

Preparation and respect for your own rhythm

Before working with difficult memories, we dedicate the necessary time to create safety and resources. The bilateral stimulation of EMDR is adapted to the video call.

An integrative approach

I combine EMDR with scientifically validated techniques, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, and Internal Family Systems (IFS), depending on what you need at any given moment. My goal is to offer you a safe and judgment-free space where you can express yourself freely and move towards a calmer, more conscious, and more fulfilling life.
